Color and theme planning are essential components of any newborn photography business, however, stylizing a beautiful studio set for each newborn photo session can be a daunting task. Let’s face it, in newborn photography, little girls get all the glory these days! Well, we think boys deserve a little more attention! There has been a huge spike in interest for an increase in boy photo props than ever before.
There are three great ways to create a memorable newborn photography boy setup that any family would love to show off. You can go the traditional studio set route, get some cute outfits, or come up with a custom boy theme involving cars, trucks or even plaid.
Traditional Studio Sets
While they have been done before, a traditional set is always beautiful; if you are using great products and creating a seamless and timeless color story. You don’t want to just throw a few blue things together and call it a day. SalwachPhotography has a great composite balancing a traditional blue coupling with a great hemp layer, wood flooring and bucket prop.
Gender neutral colors are also very big right now and can output some amazing boy images. While white setups used to be reserved for little angels with bows, more photographers are jumping in and putting boys in white. The results are gorgeous! We love this all white look that Emily Karr Photography put together. It is still a very traditional setup, but the all-white is just too cute on this little boy. Girls better watch out; these boys are rocking these monochrome scenes.
Little outfits are becoming more and more popular. Knit and crochet outfits have been on the scene for years, but we have noticed that photographers are wanting to grow their boy clothing lines. Photo prop companies are coming up with ever-expanding collections of boy outfits in different patterns and fabrics.
Knit outfits are always cute, and the most common outfits up until recently. Check this one out by Emily Karr Photography – paired with a sweet little bunny! Emily put together a very classic outfit that will make any parents swoon!
Many shops are starting to revamp their boy collections with new and innovative boy clothing designs. Introducing more overall designs, onesies with feet, and more sleepy hats. As companies are becoming more creative, outfits are including cute details like buttons, toggles, you name it! The great thing about these outfits is they can stand alone as great pieces by themselves or be paired with other props – simple and oh so cute. Here are some of our favorites.
If the parents are looking for that out-of-the-box composite with insane detail, or the studio set with unique products for their little boy, there are more resources than ever to pull it off.
